Our Group MD, Chris Lyons, has returned from a week away in Argentina & Uruguay, where he took part in a charity cycle ride, raising money for three UK children’s charities.

No stranger to cycling in various countries around the globe all in the name of charity, this was Chris’ seventh charity cycle ride, which helped to raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust, Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy and Childline. All three charities help young people get through difficult times in their lives whether that’s navigating a devastating cancer diagnosis, enriching the lives of those with disabilities and life-limiting illnesses with music therapy or providing support for those facing bullying, abuse or mental health issues.

Not alone in his quest, Chris cycles with a group named ‘The Truants’ made up of individuals – some who are at home on two wheels and some who are more at home on two feet. Each person covers their own costs to take part in the charity event, so that 100% of the money donated goes directly to the charities.

The cycle route over four days took the group from Buenos Aires city, where they visited the new area Puerto Madero and the main city square, Plaza de Mayo. They then cycled to the North of the city to Puerto de Tigre where they took a boat transfer to Uruguay. From there, they rode through rural scenes to Conchillas and then onto Colonia, an enchanting old town, before heading back to the finish line in Buenos Aires.
